We received the relieving news that a transporter with rescued animals from the Ukraine arrived yesterday and the four-legged friends are now safely housed with animal welfare organisations in Poland.
In this context, our driver told us about kilometre-long refugee traffic jams on the Ukrainian side. People wait for hours, if not days, to enter the country (in this case Poland).
Immigration is progressing slowly, at least too slowly for the huge numbers of people who are now seeking protection and fleeing the violence in their home countries.
Of course, we are also working with local helpers here, for example to provide people with food and support their onward journey within Europe.
Perhaps you would also like to help? People who have lost everything in the war need warm accommodation, among other things. At the moment, they are often housed in gymnasiums, community centres etc.. But of course this is not a permanent solution.
Please help the people and animals to find a safe, warm and temporary home.
