The high water levels at the turn of the year brought back many memories and feelings of the floods of 2021 for the flood-affected children, who are supported by our dear @Silke Fröhlich.
"In art therapy today, it was noticeable that what had been planned had to be put on hold for the time being, because the children had a great need to talk individually.
As I always go with what is, I picked up the dogs without further ado and we drove to a beautiful spot in the countryside.
When running with the dogs, it quickly became clear what it was all about.
The tense situation of the current water level in Schleiden/Gemünd brought the events of 2021 back to life.
What had previously stalled was now able to flow and allowed me to share in what those affected by the flood were going through at the time.
As you know, I myself recently moved into a house that was badly damaged at the time and I am now experiencing the worries and fears in connection with the children's stories in real life.
It is unbelievable what so many people and children still have to deal with here.
An open ear, a relaxed and safe atmosphere, the individual outlet provided, the loving hand of a handkerchief and comforting fur, as well as the nudge of a cold dog's snout are all good helpers and supporters in such situations.
