Angels and unicorns at the screen printing workshop

Last weekend, the screen printing workshop for adults took place at Malzirkus Ahrweiler! 🎨 Under the guidance of Sarah Uessem, the entire screen printing process was run through and explained in detail in a first small group.
She reports:
"The circus wagon quickly became a darkroom. After a theoretical section on the basics of screen printing, we got straight down to practical work with the first preparations. 🤗 The degreasing and coating of the sieves. Things got exciting when the first exposure process was started, as this is a photochemical process that can only take place under yellow light. It became magical when the screens were subsequently washed out, as the contours of the print motif gradually emerged until the entire image finally became visible. 🤩 On the second day, printing finally began and the first beautiful textile prints with angels and unicorns were created! Screen printing is not for those in a hurry; the various work steps and the repeated drying times make it a process that slows you down and brings you into the here and now. 🥰 Screen printing is a very experimental and expressive activity. It oscillates between searching for a motif, preparation, imaginative experimentation, artistic design and technical realisation. In this respect, it is a particularly sensual artistic activity that stimulates creativity, promotes imagination and logical thinking and trains mindfulness.
One participant said goodbye with the words: "That was such a nice change from my everyday life!" We think so too, it was a lot of fun!"😍
It's great to see how art and craft bring people together and let them discover new ways of self-development; thank you so much, dear Sarah.💝
