Magic balls and bookworms made from felt

Natalie Reuscher tells you about the felting workshop at the Ahrweiler painting circus:
"Felting with wool and soapsuds is a very old method of making a fabric from loose fibres. The children enthusiastically learnt how to felt magic balls and bookworms in the felting workshop. First the wool was plucked and soap was grated, then the felting process was initiated with hot water: first very gently and then more and more vigorously until everyone was sweating profusely at the end. have come. Happy and tired, the children marvelled at their great results. The children also learnt that you can put the magic balls on the bedside table and when bad thoughts come up, you tell them to the magic balls. As the strands of colour are so interwoven, the bad thoughts can no longer get out.
One child said: "Oh, then I can tell my nightmares to the magic ball! "
Felting is a sensory experience, as the technique directly appeals to all the senses. The movement also has a relaxing effect and promotes inner peace."
Many thanks to Victoria Rico Gomez, Steffi Raths and our painting circus team for this great workshop and to all the children who took part with so much joy and enthusiasm!
We are already looking forward to the next painting circus adventure! 🎨✨
