For me, things got wild again in the truest sense of the word
An injured nestling was brought in late yesterday evening and this morning a blind and skinny hedgehog ran right in front of my feet. On this occasion, I would like to take up the topic for all those who would like to take care of and support such a wild little heart in need. First and foremost: thank you for not looking away
but give every life a chance!
Please:

Seek professional help immediately - in the case of injuries, a specialised vet, animal shelter/wild animal station (wild animals may not be cared for/kept privately by law. Strict regulations are imposed here to protect the animals).
There is great and quick help on Facebook in wildlife groups, such as:
- Wildtierschutz Deutschland e.V. They have also listed the rescue centres by postcode (see homepage)
- All about wild bird aid
- All about wildlife care
- And other local groups that help.
Please do not feed anything that has not been discussed with the experts beforehand. If you receive information such as buying nestling food or giving dried mealworms - these are not suitable foods for the little peeps. Fresh insects (catching flies etc.) are the food of choice here. And if, like me, you can't be bothered with flies, you can buy some in specialised shops to tide them over. Attention! Always aim to get the wild animal into expert hands as quickly as possible. Wild animals are subject to the Nature Conservation Act.
Oh, and before I forget:
Do not give water to birds (they may suffocate).
I am now going to a specialised vet and then to a specialised rescue centre.
Please always remember that these are all volunteer angels, who are always busy with emergencies, especially in spring and summer. These angels appreciate your appreciation, patience and support in the form of donations. Because what they do is 24-hour unpaid life support with high feeding costs that are only possible thanks to donations. Otherwise, they would no longer be able to care for the animals in need or take in more. "Every drop makes a difference and together we can achieve more

With this in mind, I remember with deep sadness all the tiny creatures - from ants and spiders to mice and hedgehogs - that had no chance of escaping the floods... Millions of creatures have quietly passed away
