Colourful journey of discovery: Children explore the art of egg tempera painting at the Ahrweiler painting circus
"Under the art therapy direction of Viktoria Rico Gomez, the painting circus was transformed into a laboratory for creativity and colour research. Here, where usually only eggs and oil are baked at the ZuvAhrsicht. This time it was the other way round and at the painting circus these materials such as eggs, linseed oil and spices were used as tools of art. The children, guided by curiosity and a love of experimentation, immersed themselves in the world of pigments and binders to discover the secrets of egg tempera painting.
They became little historians, exploring the origins of colour and learning how to create their own hues using natural materials such as ground paprika, turmeric, charcoal ash and soil. They then used these colours to try their hand at the art of cave painting, bringing their own prehistoric scenes to life on large sheets of paper.
The resulting artworks are not only a testimony to children's creativity, but also proof of how the combination of art and therapy can promote the joy of discovery and self-expression. This experience shows that art therapy not only has a healing effect, but also opens the doors to a world full of colour and possibilities." - Bianca Ferber
