"The Zentangle course took place in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. It has its origins in scribbling on the telephone, and so the different pen thicknesses were first tried out by scribbling without intention.
Zentangle is traditionally done with black fineliners, without pre-drawing and without erasers. That's why we tried out different patterns - Zentangle comes alive through the combination of patterns and erasers. Contrasts. What looks so simple is actually quite complex: a Zentangle picture is built up slowly from many patterns, without any previous plan, so any perfectionism can be discarded.
Zentangle is a great combination of active creativity and relaxation at the same time. The fine patterns train a steady hand, perspective vision and require a certain amount of concentration during execution.
At the same time, the multiple repetition of the individual elements enables an almost meditative immersion.
Zentangle calms, relaxes and reduces stress.
This creative and safe environment also gave rise to important and valuable discussions.
It was a very nice afternoon." - Sarah Uessem
