Culinary delights, useful information, historical facts and a magical fairy tale about our local herbs awaited the children on this walk with Heike. They were accompanied by herbalist Johanna Schwarm and storyteller Bettina Morsch.

"The first impressions of the Middle Ages awaited us at the entrance to the castle.

Since there was a sword stuck in a stone ... was it Excalibur? A voice from the loudspeaker told us what it was all about. And then we were back in time with the children, in the Middle Ages!

A few metres further on was a medieval playground that encouraged the children to give free rein to their urge to move and their imagination.

Hannah and Bettina and their friendly dog Bodo were already waiting for us under a large beech tree.

It was great what the storyteller and the herb expert showed us. We were allowed to snack, search, try things out and do research with magnifying glasses .... In short, we had a lot of fun trying out the many herbs in this new environment.

We also learnt to treat the plants and flowers with care and to leave important food sources for the insects to survive.

It was exciting right to the end, and the children were able to spend their time in the autumn sunshine with lots of new impressions.
