"Once upon a time... The Ahrweiler painting circus was transformed into a colourful fairytale land on this special day! The Frog King took centre stage as we painted from fairy tales. After listening to the fairy tale together, each child was allowed to create their own picture of the Frog King. Under my guidance, creative collage-mix pictures and even 'change pictures' were created, which imaginatively depicted the transformation from frog to prince.
Fairy tales are full of Symbols and archetypes that are deeply rooted in the human subconscious. In art therapy, they can work in a variety of ways: By working on fairytale themes, hidden fears and conflicts can be uncovered and processed. Immersing yourself in fairy-tale worlds can also have a calming and relaxing effect.
The children also discovered the moral of the Frog King: "Promises are not broken" and "Even an ugly frog can be a prince inside." We rounded off the fairytale afternoon with handmade frog puppets, which the children proudly took home with them."
