The children create wintry Zentangle patterns

"Child-friendly templates with winter motifs were divided into different sections that the children could fill with different patterns.
Exciting questions arose: What exactly is a pattern and how can variations of it be created?
The children came up with lots of creative ideas, gave each other tips and let their imaginations run wild.
Although Zentangle patterns are usually drawn with black fineliners, but the children also had great fun making their artwork colourful, resulting in many vibrant patterns.
Zentangle offers a perfect combination of creative activity and relaxation. Drawing the fine patterns improves fine motor skills and perspective vision trains patience. It also has a calming effect and helps to reduce stress.
The relaxed atmosphere also invited the children to tell stories.
Topics included:
When will our elf finally arrive?
What is the name of your elf?
Who has already finished their wish list for Father Christmas?
But more serious topics were also addressed:
Why doesn't your dad live with you?
Why do parents separate in the first place?
This illustrates the importance of our art therapy work.
The children find a safe space here to exchange ideas, support each other and talk about their worries and dreams, away from home.
While the children are being creative here, they not only experience joy, but also comfort." 🫂
