"The afternoon was all about books. Which is your favourite book? And what exactly do you like about it? The story, of course! Or a very specific character? 
The children were allowed to bring their favourite book and read something from it or talk about it. "The magical tree house!" Who doesn't know it? This child particularly likes the idea of being able to do magic, of being able to see something that others can't see. Magic and wizardry! So we were told We were even told several stories from the book series and the tree house was described in detail. That was magic for everyone else! Because everyone creates their own tree house in their imagination.
And you may think what you like: a non-fiction book about the ever-popular "Minecraft" was also brought along, explaining when, how and what you have to do to be successful in the game. The motivation to get better and better and get as far as possible was definitely palpable and was presented with shining eyes.
Then there was also a story from my personal favourite book, a collection of stories that I always enjoy reading aloud because it's just funny when "Fischbrötchen" tells Emma the turtle what a cow looks like. 
Afterwards, we had time to play and also to realise what we had heard in an artistic and creative way. This led to some interesting conversations - for example, about what children would change about "school" if they had more say and were listened to. And it wasn't always about "more and longer breaks" or "fewer lessons".
I was able to learn a lot from the children again today, and perhaps one or two things will flow into one or two courses. I certainly will!"
