To help the birds in the cold season, the children in the painting circus made colourful bird feeding stations under the guidance of Sarah Uessem!
Great bird restaurants have been created from a small flower pot, organic coconut oil and bird food.
"First, each child was able to design their own free and colourful pot to attract the birds. The bird food is mixed with the coconut oil so that it sticks to the pot.
To do this, the coconut fat must become soft, on The best way to do this is with body heat. We filled everything into bags and kneaded the mixture thoroughly.
The dried mealworms were a particular highlight and one or two peanuts were hidden as a surprise for the birds.
It was a great tactile experience and a lot of fun!
The children thought about what the birds might like and what colours they like. They also created feeding stations for Auntie and Grandma's gardens.
The carefully coordinated work steps encourage patience and concentration. In our fast-moving times, it is valuable to realise that some processes take time and require several steps. It also strengthens the sense of responsibility, as it is a great feeling to look after other living beings. It also encourages self-efficacy: "I'm really happy about my feeding station and that lots of birds now have something to eat!" said one child on leaving.
We are also looking forward to it and are sure that many little birds will come by!"
