Garden habitat in winter

Spring is just around the corner and some wild bees are already active. Some other animals and insects are still dormant and urgently need our support.
Here are a few tips:

🚫 Wait with the tidying up!

- Leave old flower stalks standing - they are a habitat for bees.

- Keep piles of leaves as harbourage for insects such as ladybirds.

- Do not remove any "dead" plants - they could still harbour pollinators.

Instead of tidying everything up, create wild corners in the garden and support nature in its own rhythm. 🧡

A word about the hedgehogs: 🦔

Did you know that female hedgehogs hibernate from mid-November to early April, while the males go to sleep about a month earlier and also wake up a month earlier?

If you still see hedgehogs waking up during this time, you should provide them with food and water so that they can replenish their fat reserves - preferably with high-quality cat food. But no milk, please - it's not good for our prickly friends.

Let's work together to ensure that our gardens remain a lively habitat for hedgehogs and insects! 🐾🐞
