Colourful carnival masks

Carnival is the perfect time for dressing up, which is why we made colourful masks at the painting circus. There were various mask blanks to choose from, which the children could colour and decorate to their heart's content. 🎭
"During the conversations, it turned out that most of the children already had their carnival costumes ready. They included, for example, a polar bear, a penguin, a bat and Mickey Mouse.
Everyone agreed, however, that we should be able to enjoy each other's company all year round. dress up and the masks are not just for carnival. Children love dressing up because it gives them the opportunity to slip into other roles and freely express their imagination. Dressing up offers children a way to express their own emotions and experiences without showing themselves directly. The mask serves as a kind of protective shield and gives them security. This can be particularly helpful when it is difficult to express these emotions verbally. The joy of dressing up is therefore not only an expression of a child's imagination, but also a valuable learning experience that supports their development in many ways.
While making masks, we also learnt something about traditions: why do we celebrate carnival and dress up?
The children learnt that dressing up and celebrating carnival is deeply rooted in our history and culture and that camels only play a minor role.
You made the painting circus even more colourful with your creative masks - have fun dressing up!" 🤡 - Sarah Uessem
