"Creative design with beads fascinates children anew every time. The focus was on the colourful Katsuki beads - small discs made of polymer clay. Under my guidance, each child was able to design their own individual piece of jewellery.
Stringing the tiny beads required patience and full concentration, so that
each child focussed intensively on their bracelet.
The repeated threading of the beads has a decelerating effect and helps to relax the mind.
It promotes mindfulness and helps to reduce stress. Precise hand movements train fine motor skills and improve hand-eye coordination.
Completing a self-made piece of jewellery gives children a quick sense of achievement and strengthens their self-efficacy: 'I made that!
The process of designing a piece of jewellery allows children to express their personality and creativity and encourages them to try out and discover their own preferences. The event not only gave the children the opportunity to express their creative side, but also to get to know each other better.
Talking about the different preferences, the children discovered that they are just as diverse as the colourful beads: and so words were exchanged in different languages such as Russian, Turkish, Iranian, Arabic and Albanian - an instructive and enriching addition to our creative activity!
In the end, the new bracelets were proudly worn home on the wrist and one or two will also delight the little sister, mum or grandma."
