A special feature of folklore patterns is their mostly mirror-symmetrical design. We have solved this with a trick: only one half of the pattern is drawn, it is then transferred to tracing paper with a soft pencil and can be pressed through to the other half in mirror image on the centre axis.
This approach removed the participants' inhibitions and resulted in some fantastic works.
The folklore patterns captivate with their powerful simplicity and encourage you to express your own emotional world through colours and symmetry.
Concentrating on the design and the repetition of the patterns had a calming, almost meditative effect. Working together as a group also strengthened the feeling of solidarity and enabled an appreciative exchange beyond the creative work.
Folk art is not just a decorative technique, but also a tool that can be used for inner balance and personal development. After the course, participants reported that they felt more relaxed and inwardly balanced."
