Heavily wormed - an invisible problem with major consequences
A few weeks ago, we were able to rescue over 20 horses from poor conditions - including pregnant mares and helpless foals. Many of them are severely wormed, malnourished and in poor health. The youngest of them in particular need intensive care, as their immune systems are still developing.
Worms are not a harmless problem. They cause inflammation, deficiency symptoms, dull coats, itchy skin and, in the worst cases, colic or even organ failure. Foals are particularly at risk, as the parasites multiply rapidly and lead to a life-threatening vicious circle.
Our animals urgently need it now:
After the first deworming we were horrified to realise: The infestation is massive. In some cases, we have to treat several times - with the risk that complications such as constipation colic can occur due to the death of the worms.
Caring for these weakened souls is cost-intensive. Every euro helps us to provide medication, food and veterinary care.
