"Over the past few weeks, the senior citizens' group has been meeting regularly at ZuvAHRsicht to prepare a special project: a silent commemoration of the flood disaster of 14 July. Lights were designed with a great deal of creativity and dedication to bring comfort and to set a sign of remembrance and solidarity.
Johanna Page worked with great dedication to ensure that these lights could be created and set up on the market square in Ahrweiler. She lovingly oversaw everything from the handicrafts to the organisation on site. For Johanna, taking care of those affected and especially the senior citizens in Ahrweiler is a matter close to her heart.
As she does all of this on a voluntary basis, we - Fortuna hilft e. V., ZuvAHRsicht and the Malzirkus - would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for the time she invests in her projects, for her care for her group and for her tireless commitment.
Our deepest thanks also go to the senior citizens: together they created a touching memorial. The handicraft weeks were emotionally very stressful, as many memories of the flood disaster came flooding back. However, these feelings could be shared within the community. No one was alone, and mutual support was always tangible.
This campaign shows the power of solidarity, compassion and creative expression."
