Homemade paper beads

"In the adult course "Making paper beads", the participants enjoyed a creative end to the day. First, A3 sheets of paper in their favourite colours were coloured, which had a relaxing effect and stimulated creativity. After a short drying phase, the leaves were cut into long triangles - an exercise that required concentration, attentiveness and patience in order to minimise waste.
The paper strips were then rolled tightly onto thin knitting needles and fixed in place with glue. Even the first finished bead was a small sense of achievement, and it was surprising how different the individual results were. Those who had got the hang of it immersed themselves meditatively in rolling and gluing and were proud of their own little works of art.
To intensify the colours and create a porcelain look, the beads were coated with glossy acrylic clear lacquer. After drying, they can be further processed into necklaces, bracelets, earrings or key rings.
The entire process - from colouring to cutting and rolling - promotes relaxation, creativity, concentration and patience. The finished beads give the participants joy and pride, as they have created something unique and beautiful that they can continue to use and present." - Silke Janzen
