With a lot of heart, movement and humour, the children learned not to take insults to heart and to build a strong shield against hurtful words.
Together, we practised how to react calmly and clearly when someone is being harassed or insulted. Short sentences and little rituals gave the children the confidence to say „Stop!“ clearly and respectfully.
Difficult situations such as holding on to or taking away objects were also discussed and practised together. The children found strategies to regain control with clear eyes, calm voices and a determined demeanour – gently, firmly and effectively.
A particularly enjoyable part was working with the emotion compass. It helped the children to understand their emotions, express them appropriately and accept help without losing their independence. Nicole also showed what children can do if they get lost or are approached by strangers – and how they can then find support.
This was followed by accompanying parent coaching, which provided an opportunity for discussion, questions and practical tips. Together with Nicole, parents were able to learn how they can strengthen their children in everyday life and provide lasting support for the content of the course.
These days have shown us once again that self-assertion is the first step towards a self-determined, happy life.
We would like to thank Nicole Sindermann from Mut mit Herz and Steffi Raths, who accompanied the course, for these inspiring ideas – and all participants for their courage, openness and radiance!“
