Iron-on beads are a popular creative activity for many children. So why not use them to make tree decorations or window decorations? The children had great fun choosing their colours and contributing lots of their own ideas. The younger children enjoyed using the prepared templates, while the older ones experimented freely. This resulted in colourful stars, baubles, candy canes, Father Christmases, angels and even a star that could be put together.
By carefully placing each individual bead, children playfully train their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills – abilities that are also helpful when writing. At the same time, they learn patience and concentration, because a iron-on bead artwork takes time and care. The calm work almost turns into a meditative experience. In addition, iron-on beads promote colour recognition and spatial understanding. Children can experiment with patterns and combinations, sharpening their perception in the process.
In this creative atmosphere, they began to talk enthusiastically – about Christmas rituals at home, planned Christmas trips and wish lists that had already been written. It was a wonderful and creative afternoon.
Christmas can come, and we are delighted that these colourful creations will soon be shining on your trees!
Thanks also to our intern Karl Gailer for his support.“
