„Gaby, what are we doing today?“ - Well, it's not so easy to explain this to the young children ... „I'll put it this way: today you're creating a picture of what makes you who you are. For example, who or what is important to you ... what you like to do and what you're good at ... and also what you like to eat or something.“
We first collected these key points - and more - and recorded them on a whiteboard. Questions about the procedure were clarified, and the appropriate answer was of course: „Whatever you like. You can design freely.“ And they then realised this very individually with lots of their own ideas, which you can clearly see in the photos.
And then there was this one girl (aged 9) who has been coming to the colouring circus regularly for a few years now and I know that she can use ANYTHING - and I do mean ANYTHING - and conjures up something really creative from it: from the tiniest bits of paper to pieces of egg cartons, drops of hot glue to strips of adhesive tape and so on.
And she did what I hadn't expected, because of course I had a certain idea of the project in my head: she made no effort to depict her life and what was important to her. She took everything that the others had sorted out and cut off and made something out of it - as always. Because that's really what makes her special!
