Experience the Community Café

Our community café at Malzirkus Gemünd is now a pilot site for the DigitalPakt Alter initiative
Here, we offer support to older people in using digital media. 📱
Since April, we have been one of over 350 centres of expertise nationwide under the DigitalPakt Alter initiative. We are receiving funding to develop into a digital learning centre. As part of the initiative, the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, (BMBFSFJ) and BAGSO – the Federal Association of Senior Citizens’ Organisations – are thus supporting projects that promote digital inclusion among older people. At the community café, older people can learn how to use the internet and devices such as tablets and smartphones step by step, thereby expanding their digital skills.
„We want to create a space where older people can come together, enabling those who are particularly inexperienced with technology to get to know the digital world. Our team helps those interested to overcome their inhibitions. We hope to reach as many older people in the local area as possible, to equip them with the skills they need to participate in digital life,“ explains site manager Rebecca Müller.
The experience centres are among the core offerings of the Digital Pact for Older People . Here, people aged 60 and over can practise using digital devices or take their first steps online. In addition to these experience centres, the Digital Pact for Older People further initiatives designed to promote and establish digital inclusion in the long term, in collaboration with partner organisations from all sectors of society.
