Malu Dreyer honours flood relief workers: People achieve great things when they are there for each other
Minister President Malu Dreyer has honoured 50 private helpers and 63 local mayors for their special commitment during the flood disaster with the state's second highest award, the State Medal of Merit in the unique special edition "Flood 2021". "On behalf of all 100,000 non-organised helpers, I would like to express my greatest appreciation and deepest recognition to you with this award," said the Minister President at the presentation of the medal in the cultural centre in Mainz.
"They were there in the hour of need, rolled up their sleeves, initiated help and motivated others. Every effort was important. You did a great job, which was visible in the tonnes of relief supplies, repaired roofs and rebuilt playgrounds. From my many conversations on site, I know that your active help and solidarity have also given many of those affected their confidence back," said Minister President Malu Dreyer.
She also recognised the commitment of the local mayors, who have been working tirelessly since the terrible flood disaster - for their citizens and the reconstruction of their communities and districts. She said she had great respect for their achievements and their commitment, which went far beyond their voluntary work.
"Today, you and your fellow campaigners on the ground are the determined rebuilders of your home communities. The state government and the municipal family stand firmly by your side," said Minister President Malu Dreyer. The extent of the destruction was so great that it would take a long time to rebuild. But progress is being made and progress can be seen on a large and small scale. "We want to rebuild sustainably with the knowledge and possibilities of today. In concrete terms, this means, for example, new heating systems instead of oil heating or flood-adapted concepts for more space for the Ahr. Together with the local authorities and local people, the state government will continue to work on reconstruction. We will do this together until it is done," emphasised the Minister President.

The fact that Klaudia, on behalf of all the helper angels State Medal of Merit "Flood 2021" was not only a great honour, but also an absolute motivation to continue working on the projects every day in order to be able to help even more people.
You can find the press release again in full here. You can watch a video with Klaudia from this evening at on Facebook view.

Together with the German Armed Forces in Slovenia
Help is strongest when people stand together. The flood disaster in Slovenia has shown how important it is to act together. Side by side with the German Armed Forces we were able to provide support to bring hope and much-needed help to the people affected.
Such missions remind us that solidarity knows no boundaries. Only together can we really make a difference - and we are infinitely grateful for this.

Malu Dreyer visits reconstruction projects: Shaping the future in the Ahr Valley
The visit to the then Prime Minister Malu Dreyer at the MALCircus in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler has once again shown how essential our direct support for children and young people is.
With the focus of the visit on our Art therapy we were able to show how the MALZirkus helps children to process their experiences - they paint what they cannot express. "An outstanding example of the great solidarity that can be found everywhere in the Ahr Valley", emphasised Malu Dreyer gratefully.

Together with the angels of the International Police Organisation IPO
There are people who rise above themselves in difficult times - who not only help, but also give hope with heart and dedication.
We were able to hand over your valuable donations in kind to two of these special people: Crt Slavec and Dan Prastalo from the International Police Organisation (IPO HQ).
Day after day, they work tirelessly, travelling directly to those affected by the floods, listening and providing exactly the help that is really needed. Their work shows how important humanity and solidarity are.
