Our journey begins
When we were given the opportunity to sponsor the little Mustang mare TAG 5477, a very special journey began for us.
With Fortuna hilft e.V. Our hearts beat for those who have no voice – people and animals alike. And so it was immediately clear to us: this shy, intelligent mare should not just be a number. She should have a real place in our community.
Together with trainer Mattijs from Akisni Ranch, we searched for a name that suited her and honoured her history. The community enthusiastically helped out – and so TAG 5477 finally became:
✨ Fortuna's Mysterious Girl ✨
A name that beautifully reflects her gentle reserve, her intelligence and her great potential.
From that moment on, we knew: we would accompany them on their journey, support them and share their development with you.
From cautious wild horse to trusted partner
Fortuna's Mysterious Girl came to Mattijs as a sceptical, reserved mare – full of caution, but also full of curiosity.
We were able to witness how their confidence grew step by step.
At the beginning, Mattijs and his team worked with simple, calm exercises:
Stroking, approaching, movements above and below her – everything that normally instinctively frightens a wild horse. But Mysti began to understand that no one meant her any harm.
This was soon followed by training with rope and pressure simulation, getting to know the bareback pad, the first obstacles, and later even the saddle.
Every time it's the same picture: first a moment of hesitation – then calm, confidence, courage.
Over the weeks, she became visibly more self-confident.
She learned to walk sideways, overcome obstacles, be loaded and finally even carry a rider.
It was incredible for us to see how much she opens up once she has gained confidence.
Mysti shows: A Mustang doesn't just give you its trust – it gives you its heart.
A special encounter
A highlight for us was our personal visit to Mysti at Akisni Ranch.
Our helpers Diana and Nastasja – a horse physiotherapist and part of our animal-assisted work – were there to support Mysti.
It took patience, because wild horses are not used to human contact at first. But thanks to Mattijs‘ sensitive training, we were able to treat them gently, examine them and support them with laser therapy.
For us, this therapeutic support is more than just a treatment:
It is a sign of respect, trust and genuine connection between humans and animals.
We will continue to accompany Mysti – just as we do with all living beings we are privileged to help.
A finale full of heart
At the Mustang Makeover in Aachen, the time had finally come:
We had the opportunity to experience Mysti live – together with Mattijs on the big stage.
It was a magical moment to see this once sceptical wild horse now behaving with such courage, calmness and confidence.
And then the big news:
Fortuna's Mysterious Girl has found her forever home! ❤️
Our own Fortuna-hilft stand was also a resounding success:
Children did crafts in our creative corner, many visitors struck up conversations with us, and a cowboy hat with a history and a joint picture were auctioned off to benefit our projects – an incredible €550 was raised!
We are infinitely grateful:
